Leslie Schwing has been painting in Baltimore for over 20 years. Earlier she spent many years in the Caribbean, thus the vibrant palate for which she is known. Her education and training began in Pittsburgh, at Carnegie Mellon and continued at Corcoran School of Art and George Washington University where she received her degree and did Graduate work. She was influenced heavily by the Ohio Regionalist painters such as Charles Burchfield, and later by Washington Colorists Leon Burkowitze and Connie Costigan. Most known for pastel and oil pastel work, Schwing is versitile and each new series is a surprise.
